We just shot and edited our first TV Commercial. It is going to run in the Las Vegas Market this week. If you are watching UFC on Spike this Wednesday on Cox Cable look for the ad. It will run during “UFC Unleashed” in between 6 and 7 pm, then in the 9pm hour of “The Ultimate Fight Night” and during the premiere of “The Ultimate Fighter” between 10 and 11pm.
There was an unfortunate turn of events at Wednesday’s WEC show. John Alessio who was having his way with Brock Larson was disqualified for hitting Brock in the head with a knee while Brock still had a knee on the ground. That is against the unified rules of MMA used by the State of Nevada. Many people felt Brock could have and should have continued in the fight, but he elected not to. The fight was supposed to determine who would take on WEC Welterweight Champ Carlos Condit. No word on what will happen next. We’d like to see John and Brock go at it again for the right to face Condit.
The video is on our new Video Centre. Launching April 1st, the Video Centre will feature live streams of Pro Practice, archives of Xtreme Couture classes, Randy’s fight predictions and special behind the scenes interviews with members of our team and guests.
The Jose Rodriguez of the Ottowa Sun newspaper did a great article on Sam “Hands of Stone” Stout. The article talks about how Sam and trainer Shawn Tompkins met and how he got stated in the fight game.
Sam’s next fight is April 19th against Rich Clementi when the UFC makes its debut in Montreal. Sam is a legend to Montreal figth fans. He has fought 11 times for the Montreal based TKO organization and has never lost there. He is still the TKO Lightweight Champion.
Ronaldo Souza, better known as “Jacare” (Portuguese for Alligator) is spending a few weeks with us here in Las Vegas. The immensely talented grappler has hit it off well with the team and is working incredibly hard in Pro Practice. He has also been spending a good deal of time training jiu jitsu and striking with fellow Brazilians Wanderlei Silva and Robert Drysdale.
Look for Jacare to have a high profile fight announced soon.

Xtreme Couture’s Jay White went Hollywood last weekend. Jay will be appearing alongside Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in an upcoming Nike commercial. The details of the commercial titled “Human Chain” are unknown to us at this time. But we’re told it will feature MMA training and/or fighting.
So look for Jay as you’re channel surfing, and expect to see him back in the cage this Spring. For more on the commercial shoot and to see what Rampage is driving check out Throwdown.com.
Doctor Martin Kampmann operated on himself today. He caught an elbow about a week and a half ago in training and needed some stitches under his eyebrow. Today they needed to be removed. So rather than go to a physician, Martin took them out himself with a sterilized pair of tweezers and some toenail clippers.
It reminded us of the time last Spring when Dr. Joe “Daddy” Stevenson glued shut a hole in Jay Hieron’s head. Here are some pictures of that.
Jay Hieron will be featured on tomorrow night’s (Friday) Action 13 News at 6 and 11. He will be appearing alongside Sports Anchor Bryan Salmond in the “Tapout of the Week” segment. Jay will be demonstrating how to set up and lock in a D’Arce choke. After airing, the segment will be posted on the Action 13 website for those of you not living in the Vegas valley.
