It’s not every day one gets to fly down and train here at Xtreme Couture–especially when that someone lives in Saskatchewan, Canada. Lindsey Millikin happens to be that somebody and is determined to make the most out of his visit to the gym. When he came in to purchase a day pass yesterday, I deduced from his backpack and look of exertion that he’d walked here. It turned out he’d walked over an hour and a half from the airport to get here.

He’s been walking to and from the gym each day of training, for a healthy round trip each day of over 3 hours.

I sat down with Lindsey because I was impressed at his dedication and wanted to get a better idea of what fueled his passion to train at Xtreme Couture.

XC: What possessed you to walk all the way from the airport over here to the gym?

LM: Well, I’m here for a week just to train, and that was just my main objective. I’ve been a big fan of the sport, and I saw the gym on the internet. It looked like a great facility, not to mention having the top guys to train with.

XC: So, why didn’t you just take a cab like everyone else?

LM: Walking is a good warm-up.

XC: Has the experience lived up to your expectations?

LM: Yes, it’s given me the motivation to really continue with my training in Canada. It’s been great– the instructors are excellent and offer a lot of one on one time as well. I was also impressed at the level of respect that everybody has here. There’s no ego here, it’s pretty surprising.
