On Oct. 7th, Ryan Nichols, a quadrapalegic is going to be pushing his handcycle 800 miles from Salt Lake City Utah to Huntington Beach California. 100% of the contributions raised will go directly to the The Challenged Athletes Foundation, and The Goodwill Fitness Center Of Orange County. It is expected to take a total of 13 days, and Ryan will be making a stop in Las Vegas at the Xtreme Couture MMA training center at 4055 west Sunset. He is expected to arrive in Las Vegas about a week after his journey begins.

What motivated Ryan was a well respected motiational speaker by the name of Art Berg. Art was know to have influenced many including Ryan and his family back in 1993 when Ryan was first injured and in the hospital. That same year Art had pushed his race chair from Salt Lake City to St. George Utah(325 miles). Ryan told Art that he inspired him and wanted to do a push like his. Art Berg passed in 2002, and here we are with Ryan still encouraged and wanting to exceed the mark set back in 1993 to honor Art Berg.

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Ryan as he was getting ready for his ride. We wish him luck and success and hope everything goes well.

Is there anyway to know his schedule? I am in Southern Utah and ride a handcycle also. I would like to meet and ride a few miles with him if that was acceptable?
    Thanks,
    Glenn

Can we track Ryan Nicholas progress as he rides?

I was lucky enough to be a part of day one! Ryan pushed himself 69.2 miles, which kept him on the road for about twelve hours. He is very determined and was well prepared for this journey. Ryan wants to raise charities for the Challenged Athletes Foundation as he knows first hand how they can help and or how much they can mean to someone who endures a life altering injury.
Lets get as many people together to welcome him home from his “Invictus Tour”. This will be in Huntington Beach, Ca this coming weekend.

Ryan is riding for the Challenged Athletes Foundation…Let’s help his cause by donating what we can at “challangedathletesfoundation.com”.
Your support is greatly appreciated by MANY!
