There is excitement on the horizon this April Fool’s Day. At 8pm on April 1st, three Xtreme Couture fighters will take to the Octagon in another installment of Spike TV’s Ultimate Fight Night Live series.
Starting the evening off is the notorious Junie Browning. Junie has permanently moved to Las Vegas to focus 100 percent on training. Coming off an impressive win over fellow TUF cast member Dave Kaplan this past December, Junie looks to carry that streak into the New Year. He will face veteran UFC fighter Cole Miller in what looks to be a very good test for the Kentucky native.
Slated to follow Junie is one of the UFC’s most exciting fighters; he has 4 “fight of the night” awards to prove it, Tyson Griffin. Tyson is looking to show everyone why he should still be in the title picture as he looks to rebound from his decision loss to former lightweight champion, Sean Sherk. Tyson will be squaring off against Rafael dos Anjos. Many of you may remember dos Anjos from the crushing knockout he suffered courtesy of a Jeremy Stephens uppercut last November. Tyson is looking to make it another short night for Dos Anjos, hopefully trading in his customary fight of the night honors for a knockout of the night bonus instead.
In the feature fight of the night Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann looks to welcome former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit into the UFC by handing him his first loss since 2006. Both fighters are well recognized as top in their division. The obvious size advantage goes to Kampmann, as this is his second fight since coming down from the middleweight division. In his welterweight debut in January, Martin sent a message to his fellow 170 pounders with an impressive TKO stoppage against Alexandre Barros. This will be Martins first main event bout, a well deserved honor for the hard-hitting Dane. Carlos Condit has been riding a high profile winning streak since capturing the WEC title. This will be a big step up in competition, however, as Martin is one of the most well rounded competitors that the UFC has to offer.
We hope you’re looking forward to the fights as much as we are. Please tune in to cheer our guys on. And remember, don’t stand on the tracks when the pain train’s coming.
