UFC heavyweight Todd Duffee

It’s been nearly 10 months since fast-rising heavyweight stud Todd Duffee impressed fans with his seven second knockout of the recently released Tim Hague at UFC 102.

Immediately following the swift KO, some were so impressed with the youngster’s skills that they were ready to throw him directly into the fray against the division’s best.

Duffee has been calling for stiffer competition for quite some time and UFC president Dana White was more than willing to oblige, as he too is anxious to test the wrestler’s mettle.

“I want to fast-track him. I want him to fight good guys right now. This kid is fired up, and I like that,” White stated.

Duffee was scheduled to fight at UFC 107 against Paul Buentello, however an undisclosed injury forced him off the card.

In addition to having to deal with the injury, Duffee also decided a change of scenery was necessary. He moved his training camp from the famed American Top Team in Florida to the talented Xtreme Couture squad in Las Vegas.

Duffee will now face his biggest test to date at UFC 114 against Mike Russow, who coincidentally last competed at UFC 102 as well. Neither are close to being legitimate contenders to the heavyweight throne, however an impressive finish inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will certainly help their climb.
