For the third main event of the year , the UFC the judges have rendered yet another controversial outcome.  A “unanimous” decision win for Sanchez.

Martin Kampmann vs. Diego Sanchez last night was a war plan and simple.  Kampmann destroyed Diego’s face which closely resembled Dr. Hannibal Lecters left overs, but still did not impress the judges with his precision striking, takedown defense throughout the fight.

The fight did earn a $60,000 Fight of the Night bonuses for both fighters.

Kampmann who thought his hand was broke during the fight said this morning  on his twitter “Good news, so my hand is still pretty swollen but doc says it wasn’t broken.”

Below are comments pulled from twitter from our Pro Team here at Xtreme Couture MMA on how they saw the fight.

“Judges scored activity over accomplishment in the kampman fight ! 1st and 3rd to kampman ! Classy performance win or loose . Nice work MK !”
– Randy Couture

“Brother u me n the whole world had u winning that fight!!”
– Ray Sefo

  1. Nate says:

    Kampmann defn won that fight.

  2. Sorry guys but the judges had it correct. They base the fight on aggression which Diego clearly was the aggressor throughout the entire fight, striking which went to Martin, grappling which Diego won with the takedown, and octagon control with Diego also dominated! It doesn’t matter what the fighters look like at the end of the fight, what matters are those 4 things, and clearly Diego had 3 of the 4.

  3. ricky says:

Nicholas, you think diego won the grappling match by getting 1 of 15 takedowns???? Kampmann successfully stuffed 14 takedowns in a row and got right back up in the 3rd..What do you consider octagon control?? running forward while getting jabbed into looking like you got put thru a wood chipper.. OR successfully landing twice as many strikes as your opponent while take very little damage??? IF octagon control is getting your ass whooped while moving forward and not circling the cage or using any technique I guess it’s time i get a shot at the title. I can win a couple rounds running at my opponent with my head down swinging looping punches too

  4. ricky says:

and usually i agree it doesnt matter what the fighters look like after the fight because guys like nick diaz, forrest griffin, wanderlei silva cut real easy…But there is a difference between that and what diego look like last night…Diegos face looks like he ran into 50 jabs..And he did.. he had cuts above and underneath both eyes. A destroyed cheek and both eyes pretty much shut..That means he took ALOT of damage..

  5. Wow Nicholas, did you just start watching MMA?
How can aggresiveness count without effectiveness. Its not an intimidation contest, its a damn fight, the purpose is to land damaging blows, dictate the pace, and try to submit. Martin had the better striking, better grappling, pretty much better everything overall. Sanchez literally had three moments of glory in that entire fight. Two times where he was brawling against the cage, and the one takedown out of 15 attempts. Where Kampmann stood right back up. Nothing against Diego, but he must know he lost that one too, but isnt man enough to admit fault. Regardless, I wanna see a rematch to set the score straight.

  6. JD Morgan says:

Diego won the fight because he made it a fight, yea, Kampmann could have kept to the center of the ring and picked him apart but he clearly wasn’t in control of the ring. Diego took more punches but he gave the crowd and the judges what they wonted to see. Heart and Determination.

  7. ronnie richerson says:

Hold ya head high bro! Rounds 1 & 3 were yours hands down! You made my first ever live UFC fight awesome! Come back to Kentucky soon!

  8. Wow, heart and determination is more of a deciding factor than effectiveness with striking and pretty much nullifying your opponents entire gameplan?
By that logic Demian Maia should of beaten Anderson Silva. Honestly, I cant believe people could even make such a statement.
All you need to do is look at the stats. Diego was basically a bull in a bullfight, and Martin Kampmann did a perfect job as matador.
    Just look at thier faces.

  9. Ernesto Sanchez says:

I Agree but If the Matador doesn’t go for the kill he’s not awarded an ear True MArtin got almost no Damage but you get no points for defend a takedown and judges Danna and pretty much anyone likes an aggressive match i say a sure Rematch!

    • DY says:

You don’t get points for stuffing takedowns. Its a neutral act, so I don’t care if MK stuffed him 30 times. Diego got him down once and thats what counts.
