John  “The Natural” Alessio, an Xtreme Couture fighter,  is set to return to the UFC after more than a five-year absense from the world’s largest MMA promotion. Alessio will replace injured Matt Wiman against Mark Bocek on the main card of UFC 145 in Atlanta April 21. The event will be headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Rashad Evans.

A 14-year MMA veteran, Alessio has only made three UFC appearances over the course of his career.

At UFC 26 on June 9, 2000, he lost via submission to then-welterweight champion Pat Miletich. Alessio wouldn’t return until almost six years later, when he dropped a close unanimous decision to Diego Sanchez at UFC 60. His last octagon appearance saw him lose a unanimous decision to Thiago Alves at UFC The Final Chapter on Oct. 10, 2006.

Alessio is currently riding a three-fight win streak and has been victorious in ten of his last 11 bouts.

As expected the preliminary card for next month’s UFC on FOX 2 event will air live on FUEL TV.
Officials recently confirmed the plans, which include the night’s full preliminary card and a post-event show on the cable station.
UFC on FOX 2 takes place Jan. 28 at Chicago’s United Center. The night’s main card, which features three bouts, airs on FOX.
FUEL TV is owned by FOX, which kicks off a seven-year deal with the UFC next month. As part of the landmark partnership, FUEL TV and FX will be frequent homes for UFC preliminary-card broadcasts.
Fights slated for the UFC on FOX 2 preliminary-card broadcast on FUEL TV include bantamweights Johnny Bedford (18-9-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) vs. Eddie Wineland (18-8-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC), lightweights Paul Sass (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) vs. Evan Dunham (12-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC), lightweights Cody McKezie (12-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) vs. Michael Johnson (9-6 MMA, 1-2 UFC), featherweights George Roop (12-8-1 MMA, 2-4 UFC) vs. Cub Swanson (15-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC), heavyweights Jon Olav Einemo (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) vs. Mike Russow (14-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), and middleweights Dustin Jacoby (6-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) vs. Chris Camozzi (15-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC).

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Philadelphia this summer on Saturday, Aug. 6 from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia when former UFC light heavyweight champion “Suga” Rashad Evans takes on rising star and former Penn State wrestling standout Phil Davis.

In addition, UFC fans in Philly will be treated to an exciting light heavyweight battle between former middleweight champion Rich Franklin and former PRIDE star Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, as well as a 185-pound clash pitting former UFC world champion, Xtreme Couture MMA fighter,  Vitor Belfort against Japanese superstar Yoshihiro Akiyama.

“The last time we were in Philly, the fans were incredible so we are excited to head back there with a card that features three former world champions,” UFC President Dana White said. “Phil is undefeated at 9-0 and has never been more motivated for a fight, and he wants to prove that he belongs atop the light heavyweight division. Rashad is on fire. He wants his title back so badly he can taste it, but he knows before he can get his title shot he has  to get through Phil. He wants to win and he wants to win impressively. This is a great fight.”

Fresh off a highly impressive victory over Nate Diaz at UFC 129, Rory MacDonald will get right back into action this summer, as the UFC announced on Monday that he’ll meet Xtreme Couture fighter Mike Pyle at UFC 133 in August.

The 21-year-old will fight for just the second time outside of his home country of Canada, having previously fought in the United States in his UFC debut last January. MacDonald brings an 11-1 record into his fourth UFC appearance, with his sole career loss coming against Carlos Condit in a fantastic 2010 fight, where he won the first two rounds before being overwhelmed and stopped with seconds remaining in the third.

Pyle is riding a three fight win streak, and brings a 4-2 mark in his six UFC appearances. Though he was stopped in two of his first three fights in the organization – by Brock Larson on short notice and later by Jake Ellenberger – Pyle has impressed greatly in his last two outings. The 35-year-old halted the hype train of John Hathaway in England last October before sending veteran Ricardo Almeida into retirement with a hard fought decision victory at UFC 128 in March.

UFC 133 takes place from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Penn. on August 6, headlined by the light heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis.
